Rotherham Bmx club got together to race at the Midlands Championships
at Doncaster Bmx track. It was great to see all the support from our club
members racing and not racing. To see them wearing their new shirts was a great
sight and the start to putting Rotherham Bmx track back on the map. There was great
excitement in the air for all the little rippers.
The day started off with the micro minis of the 6 and unders
class. The first Moto was under way with Rocco Brant in 6 and under novice
class, powering round in second place to give it his all and passing the lead
rider into first place taking his first BMX racing win followed by two 2nd
places in the rest of his Moto's.
Seth Baker also in 6 and under novice, steamed
out of the gate taking 3rd place in the second Moto of the day,
safely keeping it to the finish line followed by a 4th and 3rd
in the rest of his Moto's
The novice 7-8 year old boy’s category saw fourteen riders battle for the top spot, in Moto 3 Rotherham BMX had 3 riders racing together and giving it there all, down goes the gate with a fight to the finish had Jake Peat finishing in 4th, followed on by two 2nd place finishes in his other Moto's.
George Oxborough fought to get closer to his team
mate and finished in 6th place followed by an
unfortunate crash in his 2nd Moto and a great 4th place
in his 3rd Moto.
6 year old Sam Turtle had a battle on his hands racing all the big boys and still finished with a respectable 7th, 5th and 7th place in his Moto's.
Rotherham’s National
rider Arthur Herrington fresh from second place at British
Championships, set off with the
6 and under expert boys who were all fighting for that top position to be midlands champion.
Arthur managed a 1st place in his first and 2nd Moto
, which was then followed by an
unfortunate crash in his 3rd Moto putting him in 7th
place.
George Didsbury continued to impress us all in his final
when he powered out onto a track he has never been on, his first race experience
ever and winning every race including his final. Outstanding effort dude.
Arthur Herrington was last to race for the day, after having an unfortunate crash in his 3rd Moto he was worried he wouldn’t do very well, but his parents reassured him that it didn’t matter where he finished and to just try his best. With all the positive kind words from the club riders and parents, Arthur was feeling better and went all out in his final. Arthur fought very hard for that top spot and managed to achieve what he set out to do and won Midlands champs in 6 and under boys.

Rotherham Bmx would like to thank all the parents for their
help and support, to the other club members for making the effort to come down and support the
riders and a massive well done to every one of you that raced your little
hearts out, giving it your all and making us very proud.
